Give the gift of green

As the sole designer, I led the end-to-end design and partnered most closely with the Product Owner to build the product strategy. I also worked with Marketing and Engineering to create a brand-forward and robust experience.
Previously, customers could only buy gift cards through a third-party gift website. Not only did this limit our access to customer data, but it also offered little control over the user experience.
Gift card sales at Sweetgreen proved to be opportunistic revenue drivers, year over year. However, there was still a big opportunity to improve discoverability and breakage for the business. This project was a product and design-led initiative to perfect the basics and lay the groundwork for a future loyalty and payment ecosystem.
Since rolling out in August 2024, weekly gift card sales have steadily increased. The new feature — send via message — became the most preferred delivery method among users.
